I like psychology, find it interesting, though do find some of the studies that appear in the news a bit obvious or even hard to believe at times. I suppose the problems appear if dodgy research is used to change practices/policies. Perhaps comparing psychology to other sciences like physics is a bit unfair though, because the study of behaviour and mind does not have such black and white measurements, it's more subjective.

Don't say that to a psychologist. They think they are scientific. It is sociologists that tend to use more qualitative data than them. The thing is anything that is a scale and not objectively measured units is not as scientific. You get things like a scale of 1 to 10 and are asked to rate your level of, for example, confidence. That is subjective. So psychology can't be as objective as physical sciences. They still think they are, but they are not. In sociology they at least admit things are not completely valid in a scientific sense. They don't always want to be. But psychologists come up with a lot of things that don't really show anything. A lot of it is 'psycho-babble'..lol..

Interesting. I was considering doing a three year psychology degree, but have kind of decided against it after reading an article that universities were over-producing psychology graduates compared to the size of the jobs market, and that opportunities were very poor with many working for peanuts in order to get experience.
