However, lets say we get rid of the Bible as an authority on life. Why can't I just shoot whoever I please? By what authority can you say I'm wrong? Without religion or the Bible, man has no moral absolutes to stop him from doing evil. It then becomes a matter of who is the strongest and most powerful. Might creates right. Society decays as morals are undermined. The reason why we should have a set of absolute truths to live by is to prevent lawlessness and ruthlessness. Lots of moralistic standards / codes - international law / universal declaration of human rights, etc. A lot of debate as to what are absolute / universal truths / laws - from scientific to different religious moralities / laws & secular standards. healingsanctuary.proboards.com/thread/4590/law?page=1i don't agree with the arguments that humans are not moral without religion - quite the opposite in fact - What is Moral about the Bible exactly? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Is_Not_GreatWhy the Bible / Christianity? Why not one of thousands of other religions / 'Holy' Books / Legal systems / Spiritual systems that humans have created? Why not a secular Atheist scientific humanism? Why not Global systemic alternatives? Very interesting question as to the nature / existence of God / spirit. Different religions / spiritual systems / & none have different conceptions of it all. The God of the Bible / Abraham is a God that i want Nothing to do with personally.

Very interesting question within a comparative religious sense as to who / what God / the Absolute / Ultimate is, & as to who / what the Abrahamic God is? Without God, there is no basis to say that anything is absolutely wrong. If the evolutionists are right, than it really is about the strong overcoming the weak. Whose God? What God? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GodIt's also not simply a choice between the Abrahamic Creator God of the Bible & Darwin, that is a false dichotomy. Think that i asked you this before - have you read Origin of the Species? Do you know what is cited by Darwin as the primary factors in successful Evolution?

More on this hopefully tomorrow. As a Christian - Are you Christ Like? Do you have a radical & deep love, compassion, acceptance, non judgement & forgiveness for the whole of humanity / ALL life? Regardless of who the person is & what they have done. Do you embody a kindness, compassion & peace for the whole of humanity / nature? Do you dedicate your life to the genuine service of all those in need & suffering? The poor, homeless, sick, disabled, addicts, mentally ill, strangers & immigrants, criminals, prisoners & recidivists, victims of war & torture, those in grief, the Fatherless / Orphans, & embody the Golden rule that everyone is your neighbor & worthy of love & compassion, regardless of who they are & what they have done, & regardless of their country of origin, culture, religion / spirituality / politics, lack of religion or affiliations. Have you surrendered your Ego & are in a state of pure awareness; truth, consciousness & bliss within full Self / God realization of the Divinity of ALL Life? Am interested as to where you are truly at with your own spirituality & the practice / Faith of Living as Christ did?

Ill look at a few. atheistpapers.com/2014/01/22/bible-contradictions-15-is-incest-ok/This is not a real contradiction. Abraham existed before the Law of Moses. He was not expected to uphold the Laws in Leviticus. Abraham was promised to be the progenitor of the Israelites. They recieved the Law of Moses, which told them incest was to be forbidden. Also, just because something happens in the Bible, does not mean that thing is prescribed by the Bible. If the Atheist Papers is going to quote Scriptures out of context, why should I believe his assessment of the Bible is honest? He also says this on his website. "Because atheism and religion dwell solely in the realm of philosophy, I must reluctantly add this caveat to my entire blog: Nothing said in the spirit of philosophy can be fact. Neither religious ideas nor secular ideas inhabit any space in reality; they are merely opinions, and this blog takes the position of one of those opinions." If its all just opinions, I see no reason to believe his opinion that the Bible is full of contradictions. atheistpapers.com/2014/02/21/bible-contradictions-20-does-god-value-foolishness/This is just Scripture taken out of context and mocked. I really don't see how any honest person can see a contradiction given that foolishness is clearly mentioned in two different contexts. The truth is, anyone can take Scriptures to prove pretty much anything they want to say. Rather than doing that, my opinion is that Scripture should be interpreted in the light of Scripture. 1 Corinthians 1:25 King James Version 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. When I say that I believe the Bible is inerrant, Im saying that the whole counsel is trustworthy, not that every verse is literal. Some verses use literary devices like hyperbole and metaphors, for example. However, when people cherry pick Scriptures out of their context, then they put their assumptions and biases into what's being said. atheistpapers.com/2014/07/20/bible-contradictions-44-does-god-help-us/The Psalmist in psalm 22 is clearly making an honest expression of anguish. It has nothing to do about his real beliefs on how God operates. Because in the very next verses, he expresses trust in God Psalm 22:3-4 King James Version 3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. See how context is so important? I was a bit underwhelmed at the ones I clicked on. I was expecting to have to put in some real scholarship.

I was a bit underwhelmed at the ones I clicked on. I was expecting to have to put in some real scholarship. It was just a random web site / page - i know when i studied the Bible all it seemed to be was a set of endless contradictions. & the more that i studied it all & all associated Christian religions texts - utterly nonsensical.

But I don't think tooting my own horn would really be satisfying. This is more the kind of question thats answered by actually knowing someone. I became a Christian in high school. I remember the moment I realized that all my school mates were all supremely important individuals. The black ones, the white ones, the popular, the unpopular---all made in God's own image. From then on, I stopped putting them in different categories and learned to treat everyone with respect and kindness. I especially loved talking to people with strong opiniins. I love skeptics because I used to be one. I found that if you simply view people as people and stop pre judging them, it was a lot easier to see the good potential in everyone. And so I had a great time in high school and college. Because I learned how to be open and loving to them all whether they were like me or not. Its a joy to show love to people. I may have been hurt by them many times. But we all need love.

Didn't answer the question & no that is not what is primarily cited in origin of the species. I have not read it. So you know all about what he wrote & evolutionary theory but not read / studied any of it, other than what you were taught in high school. i see.

Ahhh. What on Earth does that mean? If more than one Scripture applies to something, than all of the ones that apply should be taken into account. Would that apply to all religious texts / Holy books? & that they all need to be taken as a whole body of work? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Religious_texts
