ultraculture.org/blog/2016/01/16/lovecraftian-bestiary/"Lovecraft’s cosmic creations originated from deep space, some of whom had become the original gods of Earth. The pulp author saw the universe as an inherently alien and inscrutable place, completely oblivious to human life or ideas about how things should work. Lovecraft’s protagonists are always digging too deep into some conspiracy or another, only to lose their sanity and descend into gibbering wrecks when they discover that the cosmos is run by Giant Squid Monsters."

It is a mythos, but is it useful to know about? Lovecraftian mythology is rather dark and focused on things which make one go stressed and insane, and few if any of the stories contribute to a positive view of the self or the universe. I'm not widely read about Lovecraft, for the most part because I'm not that interested in filling my mind with impressions of darkness. It is vaguely entertaining though
