The Mental Health System Can’t Stop Mass Shooters February 26, 2018 www.madinamerica.com/2018/02/mental-health-system-mass-shooters/mobile.nytimes.com/2018/02/20/opinion/mental-health-stopping-mass-shooters.html"In this piece for The New York Times, psychiatrist Amy Barnhorst explains why it is not feasible for mental health professionals to identify or treat people at risk of committing mass shootings. “The reason the mental health system fails to prevent mass shootings is that mental illness is rarely the cause of such violence. Even if all potential mass shooters did get psychiatric care, there is no reliable cure for angry young men who harbor violent fantasies. And the laws intended to stop the mentally ill from buying guns are too narrow and easily sidestepped; people like Nikolas Cruz and my patient are unlikely to qualify. Instead of hoping that imposing mental health treatment on everyone who shows ‘red flags’ will put an end to mass shootings, we should focus on ways to put some distance between these young men and their guns.”"

i worked out what i feel is happening in part on one level - Emotional Suppression/Unhealthy Emotional Expression leading to mental illness Basic Model - Layers of emotional 'mechanism' - (personal/interpersonal & transpersonal) Psychosis/Mania (breaks through the depressed state, & seeks resolution/healing/integration) Depression - [Depressed emotional/psychological state] Denial - Invalidation/Trivialisation - covers - Anger - Blame - covers - Sadness - covers - Fear - Ignorance (lack of understanding/healing) - (original trauma(s)) i have always had a safety mechanism as i am sure that most people have, but i can understand the mentality of people that do go on these murder sprees. Especially with the anger i had at the society / system in my teens. Thank God we don't have as easy access to guns in the UK. i do see a lot of all as systemic - the same thing in a way has been happening here - www.thecanary.co/global/worl...gangland-feud/Once the sociological / systemic cycles start - it is very hard to stop. The same has / is happening on a far larger scale in Syria, Yemen, Lybia etc. Happened in WW 1 & 2 as well There are these negative spirals / explosions in repressed fear / anger / rage spills out into collective violence. i can see it all happening again with another WW. The heavily repressed collective shadow spills out & manifests in the World / Collective Psyche. Most people won't seriously & honestly look at their own & the collective shadow - they project it out onto the World / other people - the dehumanised other. The enemy. There are massive amounts of negativity within the collective psyche of humanity / the emotional / astral / etheric levels. Most violence is mental / emotional / sociological / verbal - The whole society / system is violent - But when it reaches a certain level it manifests as physical violence - it has to. Carl Jung pointed all this out - as have many others. Within the individual it's pathological - within wider society / 'civilisation' it's the Norm. “If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.” ― Lao Tzu
