A psychiatrist’s perspective on dissociation and complexity www.essentiafoundation.org/a-psychiatrists-perspective-on-dissociation-and-complexity/listening/Today’s article is a master class on dissociation, from the field of psychiatry. It breaks down the complexity of this phenomenon, and shows us that it is a much more common process in life than is generally thought. Furthermore, when observed in the realm of mind and then extrapolated beyond to consciousness as a whole, it allows for a better understanding of the fundamental premise at the heart of analytic idealism.

This is such an absolutely comprehensive account of dissociation with the proposed categories according to the intensity of the de/re association and the produced effect. I have had a childhood of neglect due to substance dependent parent and i spent a lot of time in what i thought was magical thinking but reading this article so much makes sense. I also am an avid reader and almost need to read everyday escape the reality a little bit. I was looking also at the Laura King primer on psychology but i was definitely feeling like the small expanations under personality disorders were not sufficient.
