Good article, it’s nice to see it underline the fact that modern conceptions of hell owe more to Dante’s Inferno than to anything that Jesus said, no matter how the church tried to retrofit the words into his mouth.

The main themes / content of the psychoses do seem quite similar.

I think it has a lot to do with psychosis seeking the best and the worst in people’s expectations. For most people Hell is the worst thing they can think of, God or Jesus the best, and so these tend to be very frequently encountered themes. It’s typical that most people don’t have psychoses about Heaven though.
