Psychosis in a Mad World
December 27-28th 2023, Israel
Keynote speaker: Prof. Mattias Desmet, Ghent University,
author of The Psychology of Totalitarianism
We invite clinicians, researchers, service users and survivors, family members, theorists and practitioners in spiritual and religious spheres, philosophers, sociologists, anthropologists etc. to send proposals of: theoretical lectures, case studies, first person accounts, research presentations, panel discussions and workshops, on the following subjects:
Mad world - the times we live in and the influence on the individual and on society
● The post-truth era, fake news, deconstruction of reality.
● Social media and its emotional influence
● After effects of the pandemic
● Shared traumatic reality
● Psychoanalysis and psychosis in the current era
● Who is mad in a mad word?
● Between conspiracy theories and independent thinking
● Psychedelia, use of psychoactive substances
Dealing with psychosis in the present era
● Psychotherapy and psychosis in our time
● Psychiatry in an era of deconstructed conventions
● Social solutions and approaches to psychoses (peer support, virtual communities, alternatives to hospitalization, etc.)
● The clinical influences of a split and torn society
Psychosis and spirit
● Crisis of meaning loss
● Religion and spirituality as a path for recovery
● Closed communities and cults and their influences on the psyche
Submission guidelines:
Proposals should include:
● Headline up to 15 words
● Name of the presenter(s), phone number, e-mail address, current affiliation and position
● Abstract of the proposal, up to 500 words
● Brief CV of the presenter(s), up to one page each
Lectures will be up to 30 minutes
Case studies or workshops will be up to 45 minutes.
It is possible to submit a proposal for a panel discussion or a session with several presenters on a particular subject.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is July 31st, 2023.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent during September.
