OK.
We both understand/perceive the major strands to mental health conditions, significant to individuals in vaying degrees (weightings) and we both want anyone suffering/struggling to have helpful and meaningful support.
There are enough people warring over which points of view are the 'right'ones - someone somewhere will be making points I would make and someone will be knocking them down.
Both you and I have contributions to make towards a more holitic understanding . Just don't call me a mental illness denier or stereotype me as 'anti psychiatry', please.
I am tired. I've tried to be 'strong' for my daughter, be present for her as she works her way through the recent events.
I like to see what you are posting, new perspectives or developments on old one - or indeed reminders of some ver long standing ones.
You ask me to be patient with ypur frustrations. I'm asking you to appreciate that I am touchy around these issues especially when I'm tired or I'm struggling.
I did read your posts on how you hoped the forum would work - a place of debate as the internet/social media gained prominence? What there seems to be however are debates going on all over the place with little connection to each other ?
Yes. Lets try to stick to what we agree on. Although new evidence/information will arise that could challenge either one of us?

I have been asked by someone to explain in my prologue to a catalogue of a personal archive collection is. Ear to the Ground: Survivor, Service User, Mad Identified(SSUMU) and Ally Voices. Organisation and Action in the Uk from 1971- 2010. ( to be stored in Manchester's Central Library Project with a freely available pdf catalogue later this year). I have to acknowledge that this has become a distinctly historical archive . The healingsancturies.proboards forum demonstrates why this is. The arrival of the internet in many people's lives from the late 1990s means that a phenominal amount of information is now global and accessible through search engines. The healingsancturies site was set up and is maintained by an administrator with a dual diagnosis of addiction and schizophrenia , a diagnosis he now accepts but has explored other approaches eg anti psychiatry and healing . Both my archive collection and this internet site are personal selections . Healing sancturies was constructed to invite debate although this has not been as successful as hoped. My archive, in contrast, has the potential to invite comment and discussion through the intended interactive nature of the Archive Project eg through blogs arising from contemporary issues. Where does this leave my archive collection? I believe it is important that we recognise the roots to the topical issues of today surrounding mental health and the provision of services and support for anyone needing them. It is also a tribute to all the activists who, out of personal experience, set out to challenge and change what were perceived as damaging, unmeaningful, or unhelpful aspects of psychiatry. This is exemplified in the setting of the network of Survivors Speak Out , a netwotk of service users/recipients/resisters who werw deemed to have no insight into those experiences which had led to psychiatric diagnosis. Today, our numerous voices can be heard throughout the internet. I however need to add that it was never the intention of the predominately UK activists listed in my archive collection to disparage individuals who accepted psychiatric diagnosis and treatments and who found these helpful, as indeed they may be. We placed the spotlight on the mental health system demanding new perspectives and better and alternative support for individuals and recognition and addressing of harms and damage eg iatrogenetic effects. These efforts are represent in a small way in my archive collection which is a tribute to all who contributed in both small and more prominent ways.

Glad it's ok with you. Now prologue is more or less out of the way (will add that healing sancturies is frequently added to) I can get down to some organidational changes eg to headings to get it ready for printing. Tony has already added two indexes - a general one and one listing organisations.
I think my prologue is enough without an epilogue.

For some reason the AMENDED copy is not the amended so here it is. I'm reposting as the amendment includes a bit more about healing sanctuaries. eg that you had explored approaches for over 20 years and that we had both had diagnosis of psychosis. Tony will put the catalogue as a pdf, free to view, on the internet when it's printed. I'll post the link when that happens. I hope that you will see it as I describe, the effort to bring new perspectives and particular changes into the mental health system not as some anti psychiatry rant, though it is an exposure of certain attitudes/treatment/aspects of psychiatry . It has to be seen in the context of a period when some of us were not at all happy with how we were perceived and treated particularly when hospitalised. You've been there also for a while although you now see psychiatric diagnosis and treatment as reasonable. Hmmmmm. I think you may not like the content 😒😒😒 ***** I have been asked to explain in my prologue what is the use of my personal archive collection. I have to acknowledge that this has become a distinctly historical archive . The healingsancturies.proboards forum demonstrates why this is. The arrival of the internet in many people's lives from the late 1990s and increasingly in the last 10 years means that a phenominal amount of information is now global and accessible through search engines. The healingsanctuaries site was set up 10 years ago and is maintained by an administrator with a dual diagnosis of addiction and schizophrenia , a diagnosis he now accepts but he has explored other approaches eg anti psychiatry and healing over more than 20 years. Both my archive collection and this internet site are personal selections . Healing sancturies was constructed to invite all opinions and debate although this has not been as successful as hoped. My archive meanwhile has the potential to invite comment and discussion through the intended interactive nature of the Archive Project eg through blogs arising from contemporary issues. Both the forum and my archive collection arose through our respective needs to make sense of our mental health crises and conditions and find appropriare support for ourselves and others. Both of us have had diagnosis of psychosis although I prefer to talk of exra-ordinary/altered states. Where does this leave my archive collection? I believe it is important that we recognise the roots to the topical issues of today surrounding mental health and the provision of services and support for anyone needing them. It is also a tribute to all the activists who, out of personal experience, set out to challenge and change what were perceived as damaging, non meaningful, or unhelpful aspects of psychiatry. This is exemplified in the setting of the network of Survivors Speak Out , a network of service users/recipients/resisters who were deemed to have no insight into those experiences which had led to a psychiatric diagnosis - and allies. Today, our numerous voices can be heard throughout the internet. There is also a place for it in public policy considerations and in academia, as the voices of those who received psychiatric interventions. Get Outlook for Android
