A SPIRITUAL EXPLAINER Where Do You Fall on the Duality - Nonduality Spectrum? Duality and Nonduality are opposites of one thing, with shades of beliefs between them. medium.com/new-earth-consciousness/where-do-you-fall-on-the-duality-nonduality-spectrum-34069469d2a0The more nonduality speakers and teachings I listened to, the more I wondered about the different version of nondualism. After mulling this over, I came up with the following Duality-Nonduality Spectrum. (Click on the table to see a larger version.)

Analyze the three states to realize all three states are created out of single stuff that is single stuff is the consciousness. Ignorance is the cause of the dualistic illusion. The dualistic illusion hides the consciousness. The seeker removes all the obstacles which block his realization of the truth, which is beyond form, time, and space. The circumstances of life appear on their own and disappeared on their own. We cannot change the circumstances of life whether good or bad, we have to take them as they are and realize they are part of the dualistic illusion.: ~ Santthosh Kumaar

An unsaid rule of Vedanta is to never trust your feelings, emotions and thoughts. Instead, one should trust knowledge and logic. This is tough to practice as it’s so ingrained in us to constantly ask ourselves, “How am I feeling now?” and act based on whatever feeling we are currently experiencing. This occurs most often when we are depressed, fearful or with some other kind of negative thought. The last thing the ego wants to admit is that it’s being emotional and irrational. The ego always wants it its way—logic be damned! As humans, we take pride in our ability to feel and to intuit. We embrace feeling, emotion and passion as something uniquely human. It’s what gives us “soul.” The question is: do you want to be right or be happy? —From "The Broken Tusk—Seeing through the lens of Vedanta"
