At the time, Christianity was highly persecuted. They felt the need to stick together. Early Christianity was also radically different from what came later - www.jesusneverexisted.com/gnostic.html

Good idea, but everyone should be doing it, whether they believe in Jesus or not. He would not have discriminated between believers and non believers either. Have heard that some do. At the time, Christianity was highly persecuted. They felt the need to stick together. I was talking about modern churches that offer help to the poor but exclude groups, like the LGBT community. Is not what Jesus would have done.

If we're being blunt, totally honest & looking at the actual lives of Great religious / spiritual teachers - Avatars / Great Souls - there is likely Nothing left in any organised religions of any type / denomination that embody's the actual teachings in practical application of such founders.

I know people who try their hardest to do so. They have a personal take on it to a degree though. There should be flexibility, imo, and a bit more tolerance for other groups in society.
But that works both ways, a lot of people are very abusive towards people who are religious, and while I understand that to a degree, as no one likes being told what to think, not everyone who is religious is 'in someone's face' about it, and they are after all in the main doing it because they want to help the person in some way. However how they do this is important, and of course some are not doing it for that reason. Preachers that tell you you are going to Hell for your sins and you are evil, are not helping.
On the other hand when someone tries to 'convert' someone, it could be argued that a hostile and abusive response is more about someone being too ruled by their ego to accept they might be wrong and are not open to that, this is no doubt why they can be abusive.
But again, that works both ways. None of us like being told we are wrong, and humility is important to many religions. Believers can be just as full of ego.
Ultimately I think accepting that none of us are perfect, and we can all learn something from others, regardless of what we believe, is the best way to approach anything.

The post wasn't a dig at anyone on here. I see people laughing at anyone who believes there is a higher power online all the time. Christians get it more in this country because in recent history it has been a mainly Christian country, so it's not 'cool' to be into it, but it is the same with any ideology in a country. A lot of young Germans are very anti Communist for example, especially in what was East Germany. They are likely to turn to fascism to defy their parents. You can see the same in 'goth' culture here. For some was a deliberate way of rebelling against what their parents believed, even though for most it didn't involve worshipping Satan. It's a lot cooler to be into Satan nowadays than God or Christianity.
Islam is quite popular in some areas. New Age religions also.
So yes having anything shoved down your throat is going to have the opposite response. But is the same with anything for a lot of people (am not saying anyone on here), they don't like being told they are wrong or having their views challenged, especially if they identify strongly with what they believe.

Nobody is saying you 'have' to do anything, am just pointing out that there are problems on both sides, and am talking about people online who abuse strangers because they think differently from them. I haven't personally seen many Christians do this, only Jehovah's Witnesses at my front door. But I might be hanging around the wrong places online. The point is no one can force anyone else what to think. It's a two way street though, is up to the person and ridiculing them for their beliefs isn't helpful from any side. Now I know there are whole TV stations that seem to be committed to telling us we are all going to Hell. I don't watch them and that is just as abusive as laughing at a person for being religious. The fact they have TV stations does suggest they still have more power though. You can choose whether to watch it. It is likely that these channels are doing nothing for Christianity either. Pretty sure you will get something similar on other religions in other parts of the world. On both sides, I still say tolerance and understanding is important. It depends whether you think you should treat people as they have you, or not, I suppose. There is something to be said for this approach but I try not to be as bad as the other party, usually, depends on how personally it gets to me.

Humans come up with all kinds of scientific, philosophical, political, cultural, religious & spiritual endeavors / beliefs to try & explain it all & to answer this question & make sense of it all - But it's not answered. Humans have also continually fought & argued over it all. Wars are fought over it all. If there is a God of infinite love, wisdom & perfection, i'm not sure what 'He' would think about any of it? Probably with great sadness that it's a very dark & sick planet / species.

It goes against religious and spiritual teachings in the main though. Yes God will be horrified at it all. I don't believe any of it is down to 'Him'/'It' though, we have free will. A lot of people blame God for them, but is humans that are the problem.
