I know why the cage bird sings.
When it sings, it remembers freedom.

That is the soul. It distinguishes us from other living beings. All life is ensouled.

Nothing to explain - humanity is a grain of sand in the circle that encloses all life. All mineral, plant, animal & human life is ensouled. The Planet / Sun / Galaxy / Cosmos is ensouled. My last cat & current dog are far far more spiritually evolved than most people.

My last cat & current dog are far far more spiritually evolved than most people. I had a hallucination that earth, heaven, and hell, were all in a circle with the Creator at the center. A series of concentric circles with God radiating from the heavens. The implication was that a soul in hell could still find God...if they were willing to travel cosmic distances.

The implication was that a soul in hell could still find God...if they were willing to travel cosmic distances. Spiritual Cosmologies were often depicted as concentric circles. There has long been the ideas of 7 Hells & 7 Heavens (& higher World's / realms) Christ is said to have reached the 7th Heaven / Creator. There is said to be the great void beyond the Creator - transversing which you find the true God World's / Source - & the Silent Ones. i don't see any soul as damned forever - even if the soul travels for a time to the lowest Hells - all souls will eventually return to source.

I wouldn't know for certain. I only go by Christ's warnings. Unfortunately , that means I believe in the Lake of Fire ---total annihilation. I do enjoy the circle soul idea much better, however. Maybe there's still a chance for souls as it is.

All are already That. You only have to be reminded of it. It is my joy to remind you of what you appear to have forgotten.
The Buddhas, the Christs, the Sivas of this world are all inside your Self. It only requires an undressing of beliefs to be naked again. Don't keep picking up `new' things. Stay empty.
Complete this journey by fully understanding and being one with yourself. Don't purchase the promises of the mind that maybe next year will be auspicious to find it. It is ever here and now -- timelessly. You may not be able to see it phenomenally for it is without quality and form. It is beyond time. But still you have the clear sense it is here. And that it is not different from you. Uncreated, pure Being.

It is widely accepted that the text Guru Vachaka Kovai presents the most precise, systematic and authoritative exposition of Sri Ramana Maharshi's teachings; following yesterday's post, here are some more verses for you: 132. Why do people call me learned? What is the mark of real learning? Learning that all garnered knowledge Of things is empty ignorance And that true knowledge is the search For the Knower. 133. He, who by questing inward for The Knower, has destroyed the ego And transcended so-called knowledge, Abides as the Self. He alone Is a true knower, not one who has Not seen the Self and therefore has An ego still. 134. Those who, learning to forget Completely all objective knowledge, Turn inward firmly and see clearly The Truth, abide serene. Those who Try to recall forgotten things Pine bewildered, fretting over False phenomena. www.sriramana.org/guruvachakakovai/

YOUR MEMORIES
The past lives in you as memories, but memories in themselves are not a problem. In fact, it is through memory that we learn from the past and from past mistakes. It is only when memories, that is to say, thoughts about the past, take you over completely that they turn into a burden, turn problematic, and become part of your sense of self.Your personality, which is conditioned by the past, then becomes your prison.
Your memories are invested with a sense of self, and your story becomes who you perceive yourself to be. This "little me" is an illusion that obscures your true identity as timeless and formless Presence.
Most people carry a large amount of unnecessary baggage, both mental and emotional, throughout their lives. They limit themselves through grievances, regret, hostility, guilt. Their emotional thinking has become their self, and so they hang on to the old emotion because it strengthens their identity.
Because of the human tendency to perpetuate old emotion, almost everyone carries in his or her energy filed an accumulation of old emotional pain, which I call "the pain-body."We can, however, stop adding to the pain-body that we already have.
We can learn to break the habit of accumulating and perpetuating old emotion by flapping our wings, metaphorically speaking, and refrain from mentally dwelling on the past, regardless of whether something happened yesterday or thirty years ago.
We can learn not to keep situations or events alive in our minds, but to return our attention continuously to the pristine, timeless present moment rather than be caught up in mental movie-making.Our very Presence then becomes our identity, rather than our thoughts and emotions.
Nothing ever happened in the past that can prevent you from being present now; and if the past cannot prevent you from being present now, what power does it have?
Eckhart tolle.

"You should not believe a word I'm saying to you. Find out for yourself. You are the one with the answers, yet you keep reacting to life outside of yourself. You keep allowing the world to show you how you should feel. If the world shows you something nice and good you become happy.
If it shows you something that is not nice or good you become miserable. Depending on your upbringing, what you believe is good, what you believe is bad. ... Nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so. It is your mind that dictates to you and tells you that this is good or this is bad.
It is your mind that tells you that this is right and this is wrong. Where did you mind get this knowledge? From experience. But is experience the truth? No. The experience is not the truth, it's just your training, how you grew up."
~ Robert Adams (20th century American Advaita mystic)

"You know in Zen there is a difference made between a living Buddha and a stone Buddha. If you go up to a stone Buddha and you hit him hard on the head, nothing happens. You break your fist or your stick. But if you hit a living Buddha, he may say 'ouch,' and he may feel pain, because if he didn't feel something, he wouldn't be a human being. Buddhas are human, they are not devas, they are not gods. They are enlightened men and women. But the point is that they are not afraid to be human, they are not afraid to let themselves participate in the pains, difficulties and struggles that naturally go with human existence."
- Alan Watts - Lecture on Zen

𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐬
I have never known a person, who had a cold heart, who is self-realized. They may say they are, but it's impossible. You have to open yourself to the universe. You have to have a great compassion, loving kindness, and that's when everything happens by itself.
But there are so many mean people around, so to speak, not here, but in the world. And they find out about self-realization, Advaita Vedanta. They start to read book after book after book, and they add it on to their arrogance. When you try to talk to those people they throw quotations at you from the books they've read. You've got to have love.

The most advanced advaitan is a fool and knows nothing.
•
Can you see now that most people who have become self-realized did so before they read a book. If they would have read a book before they would be complete idiots and joined a debating team. I will not say most I will say just about everybody, for centuries who have become self-realized, never read a book. Take the Rishis of old. The Rishis didn't read books. They sat under the trees in the silence, in quietness and everything was revealed to them.
