The Four Benefits of Vedantic Study -------------------------------------- - Freedom from a sense of insecurity, because I have learned that my true essence is not bound by time or space. - Freedom from mental disturbance, because I have learned that I am not the mind or its thoughts. - Peace of mind, because I no longer need to chase objects to feel whole and complete. - Unobstructed practical knowledge, because I have steadied the mind through yoga and gained Self-knowledge through Vedanta, applying it to all life situations.

You lost sight of the Bliss because your meditative attitude had not become natural and because of the recurrence of vasanas. When you become habitually reflective, the enjoyment of spiritual beatitude becomes a matter of natural experience. It is not by the single realization of 'I am not the body' that the goal of Atman is reached. Do we become royalty by seeing a king once? One must constantly enter samadhi and realize one's Self, and completely blot out the old vasanas and the mind, before one becomes the Self. If you keep to the thought of the Self, and intently watch for It, then even that one thought which is used as a focus in concentration will disappear and you will simply BE, i.e. the true Self with no ‘I’ or ego.' - Conscious Immortality

"All experience is illusory, limited and temporal. Expect nothing from experience. realization by itself is not an experience, though it may lead to a new dimension of experiences. Yet the new experiences, however interesting, are not more real than the old. Definitely realisation is not a new experience. It is the discovery of the timeless factor in every experience. It is awareness, which makes experience possible. Just like in all the colours light is the colourless factor, so in every experience awareness is present, yet it is not an experience." -Nisargadatta Maharaj

When you think you are human, you have duality to contend with. Right and wrong, healthy or sick, rich or poor, happy or sad, and the rest of it. But, when you have transcended this, you see yourself in a completely different light. YOU Are the Light That Shineth in the Darkness You see your SELF as the light. The Light that Shineth in the darkness. The Eternal Glow that can never diminish. Omnipresence, All Pervading. YOU are that One. YOU have always been that One. You are not what you think you are when you are sad. When you are angry. When you are upset. This is a lie. There is something within you that knows the Truth. That is the Truth. You are That. ~ Robert Adams 'Silence of the Heart'

~~~~~~~Awaken to your self~~~~~~~~ Everything, the whole universe has come out of your mind. You have created it, and it appears real. Therefore the sage explains to you, the job you have is to trace the I thought back to the heart. When the I thought goes back into the heart center you will become liberated. By liberation, it means you will see yourself as consciousness, and the whole world as a superimposition on your self. You then begin to understand that human happiness ensues because the mind or the I thought goes outward, creating all of the illusions of the world. Everything in the world is transient, subject to the law of change. Therefore it cannot be real. What is real must be permanent, and that resides within you. So you search for a method in order to trace the I back to its source. And the method given to you is to hold on to the I, to abide in the I, to trace it back into the spiritual heart. The way you do this is you inquire, "Who am I? To whom has the I come? What is the source of I?" When thoughts come into your mind, you simply inquire, "To whom has these thoughts come? Who’s doing the thinking? I am. Well, who am I?" Automatically, as you keep practicing this process, you will find that things in this world become blissful, for you're beginning to see through the illusion, you're beginning to see through reality, You're beginning to know that I am is really consciousness, self-contained absolute reality. Months go by, perhaps years go by. You do not look for results. You carry on with the practice. You do not react to conditions. Your humanhood begins to melt. You continue to identify with the self under all circumstances. The day will come when you are no longer a personality. You have become that which you’ve been seeking, and life becomes simple for you. You no longer struggle or fight for survival. All fear has left you. You have discovered you are not the body or the mind, and you are not the doer. This has all been surrender to the self. You have become free, no longer in bondage, absolute bliss. You understand all is well, and everything is unfolding as it should. You were never born. There will never be a time when you die. You have risen. There is no longer anything you need to possess, there is no longer anything you need to own, yet you partake of all the good things of this world. You become satisfied, happy. You cannot explain this, you cannot share it, but those who come into your presence feel the grace which is always available. Yet you do nothing. There is no one left to do anything. The I has been completely transcended. There is no individuality. There is perfect peace, always, unalloyed happiness, always the same, eternal, without modification. Awaken to your self. What do you spend most of your time doing? You become what you do. If you spend your time inquiring, "Who am I? From whence does the I come?" you will one day awaken. If you spend your time relating to the world, reacting to conditions, having a mind filled with fears, superstitions, prejudices, nonsense, you will go on like this until you get old and drop your body, and you will be under the illusion of karma and reincarnation. You will appear to take on body, after body, after body, until you give up the belief that you are the body. Become free now. Do not resist. Om, shanti, shanti, shanti, om. Peace. Peace. ~ The Collected Works of Robert Adams Volume 1 Chapter: Absolute Happiness is the Self May 26, 1991
There is only the One Consciousness being Itself here , now , in Its all-inclusive magnificence . It’s the only Self there is . This never changes . It never fails to be . Meanwhile , nothing has gone anywhere . You are right here—calm , serene , concretely present as ever , as Consciousness . Body isn’t gone . Nor are friends or loved ones . All that would be “gone” is a false belief—that there was a lesser , secondary self ; two identities instead of the One . It was only a mistaken assumption—that You were a mortal body . The fact that Consciousness Itself is the only One conscious is why this book is written from Its perspective . It is written as if Consciousness , pure Awareness , were “talking” only to Itself , never another . It is Life Itself , the One I Am , here , now , talking to the Self I Am . "Empty yourself of everything. Let the mind become still. All things in the Universe rise and fall while the Self watches their return. They grow and flourish and then return to the Source. Returning to the Source is stillness, which is the way of nature." ~Lao Tsu, Tao Te Ching
“It’s about returning to a state of innocence, of real openness, availability. It’s harder for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than a rich man to get into heaven. That’s what Jesus was communicating. How are You going to fit through en eye of a needle? How are all your ideas and beliefs going to fit through an eye of a needle? They’re not. When you go through the eye of a needle it strips them all away. When it happens to you it’s not theoretical anymore, you feel it… and all of a sudden all of the things you identified yourself with gets removed, spontaneously falls away. It’s like, I thought I was this and I thought I was that, etc… and it all just gets unceremoniously taken away. And its actually an act of great compassion, its an act of great love for this to happen because it returns us to that state of really profound openness or what the Buddhists call emptiness or what the Buddha called anatta or the no-self. The stripping away of self, of the appearance of self. Revealing no-self.” ~Adyashanti
The dualistic illusion or Maya is based on the ego. The Soul, the Self is hidden by the dualistic illusion or Maya. The universe or Maya is nothing but the dualistic illusion or Maya The Self is the Soul the cause of the universe. The Soul, the Self is hidden by the universe. It is hidden by the universe because the universe is a dualistic illusion or Maya created out of the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness. That is why Sage Sri Sankara Says: ~ VC-63. Without causing the objective universe to vanish and without knowing the truth of the ‘Self’ how is one to achieve Liberation by the mere utterance of the word Brahman? — It would result merely in an effort of speech. Sage Sankara says: ~ A buried treasure is not uncovered by merely uttering the words: “Come forth.” You must follow the right directions, dig, remove the stones and earth from above it, and then make it your own. In the same way, the pure truth of the Atman, which is buried under Maya and the effects of Maya, can be reached by meditation, contemplation, and other spiritual disciplines but never by perverse arguments. Sage Sankara: ~ “VC~ All this universe which through ignorance appears as of diverse forms, is nothing else but Brahman (Consciousness) which is free from all the limitations of Maya. When you finally realize the ‘‘Self’ ‘is not you but the ‘‘Self’’ is the Soul then you will realize the world in which you exist is merely an illusion created out of the Soul. The Soul is present in the form of consciousness. Sage Sankara: ~ VC~.63: "Without knowing and examining the universe, one can’t know the Truth, as the idea that the external world exists, won't go. It can go only by an inquiry into the nature of the external world. Sage Sankara says: ~ “What is accepted without a proper inquiry will not lead a person to the final goal. On the contrary, such acceptance will result only in evil, something which is detrimental to our spiritual progress. Sage Sankara says: - VC-47 All the effects of ignorance, root, and branch, are burnt down by the fire of knowledge, which arises from discrimination between these two—the Self and the non-Self. Until you think you are an individual separate from the world and the world that existed prior to you and you are born in it afterward ignorance will prevail as a reality. Till ignorance is there the universe prevails as reality. Sage Sankara says: ~ “The exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false is real meditation, then why you are indulging in other types of meditation. Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’ leads to Self-awareness. By holding onto theories one remains in the realm of duality. You have to mentally go on dropping what is not the truth through deeper Self-search. Finally when you become aware of the fact that, your ego, your body, and the world are one in essence then there is Self-awareness in the midst of duality. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
Lust, anger, greed, hated and other human weaknesses belong to physicality and they are nothing to do with the Soul, the Self, which is ever nondual. One has to seek the truth of his true existence in order to get freedom from experiencing physical existence (universe or waking) as reality. Ignorance will vanish when the seeker turns towards the source of the universe. Thinking to cease to exist in Self-awareness and the mind transends stillness because there is only oneness. Oneness is Advaita. Duality ceases because the form, time, and space have become one with the essence. The essence is consciousness. There is no second thing that exists other than consciousness. Thus consciousness alone is the universe and all its contents are mere illusions. :~Santthosh Kumaar
Sage Sri, Ramakrishna Paramahansa Sage Sri, Ramana, Maharishi J. Krishnamurthy, Nisargadatta maharajah, all died of cancer type illness. It does not make any difference if they died of cancer or not of cancer or any illness. Even Lord Krishna died of a painful death. Death is certain, the cause of death is irrelevant to a Gnani. When the Self is birthless then it is deathless A Gnani is unconcerned about death because he is fully aware that the illusion is only a passing show. The last words of Sage Ramana on the deathbed: - he says I am not going anywhere. He did not mean that his physical form, which was bound by birth, life, and death but the birthless Self, which is ever formless. Thus, the karma theory is nothing to do with the birthless Self. Thus, people’s painful death cannot be taken as evidence because the Self is ever deathless, it is unborn because it is the formless, timeless, and spaceless existence. The karmic account is never-ending because one has to be born again and again to reap his good or bad karma carried forward one life to the next. To end his karmic account, one has to be born in a religion, which does not accept the karma theory in his next birth. The karma theory is merely a religious and yogic fable. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
"In reality, there is no Buddha and no Jesus, but only the Consciousness that shines through some people and sometimes takes the form of words. Nothing more. In reality, it is an illusion to believe that there is a person who has reached a certain level. The truth is that there is a person who is translucent enough, who has become so insignificant as a person that Consciousness can shine through him/her and then express itself as radiance or through words. But you can't equate it with a person." ~ Eckhart Tolle (translated excerpt from a german interview)
Additional elaboration:
When Consciousness is conscious of itself in a human form, the illusion of a wise person is created. If Consciousness forgets itself in another human form, the illusion of an ignorant person arises. There are neither knowing nor ignorant individuals, but only Awareness that is either aware of itself or not. Even the greatest 'masters' have nothing that you do not have – better said: None of them is what you are not. The Sanskrit word "Jnani" means "knower" and usually refers to a wise person that knows the Self, therefore an "Ajnani", as the "normal" person is called, is "ignorant" of the Self. However, there is no such thing as a wise person, or an ignorant person. Wisdom is the absence of the person, the absence of the belief of being limited to the personality and the body. From an absolute "point of view", the person does not exist. There is only the impersonal Self, infinite Consciousness. The only difference between a Jnani, the so-called enlightened one, and an Ajnani, the so-called unenlightened one, is the knowledge that they are not really different.
There is the sleep state in which you have dreams, and there is the waking state. These are known to you. But there is something beyond them, and that is consciousness. This is your true nature. You don't have to acquire it, gain it, attain it, achieve it, or aspire for it. Since you have never lost it, you don't have to run after it to get it back. It is here now, and it will always be here. It can't be lost. If it is not here now, what is the use of trying to get it? Whatever you newly acquire you will one day lose. So look for that which is never lost, which is permanent, abiding, natural and always there, here and now. Look into "now". Look into presence. Look into space. Look into your own Emptiness. Everything is there in this one particle of Emptiness. The whole cosmos is there, the whole cosmos. It emerges from there. Return there and see the Source of all this phenomenon. Then, enjoy life. ~ Papaji FREEDOM NOW
Catherine: You often speak of surrender. Surrender to what? Papaji: To that Source through which you speak, through which you see, through which you breathe, through which you taste and touch, through which this earth revolves and the sun shines, through which you have asked this question itself. Everything happens through that consciousness in which Emptiness is housed. That Supreme Power which is beyond the beyond – your own Self – to that you have to surrender. - PLUNGE INTO ETERNITY
