Heckler tells Boris: “The whole country is living in poverty. It’s a joke” "PEOPLE ARE LIVING ON THE STREETS. KIDS ARE LIVING ON THE STREETS. NOBODY GIVES A FUCK. NOBODY," HE SAID. Boris Johnson received another frosty welcome as he visited residents in Yorkshire. The Prime Minister, who was criticised for “turning up late” to flood-hit Stainforth, had to face the music twice in one day as one man branded the Conservatives the “biggest thieves in the country”. Confronting Johnson on the rife inequality in the country, he said: “You’re a joke, like. The whole country is living in poverty. It’s a joke. “People are living on the streets. Kids are living on the streets. Nobody gives a fuck. Nobody.” BIGGEST THIEVES IN THE COUNTRY In video released by LBC Radio, another man is seen to take up the heckling as the situation intensifies. “Everybody is living in poverty. Fuck the government. Fuck the council,” he says as Johnson is ushered away by his aides. www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/heckler-tells-boris-the-whole-country-is-living-in-poverty-its-a-joke/14/11/

Written on fb by Peter Beresford. "ELECTION BLOG DAY 16 OUR POLITICAL AND SPIRITUAL CRISIS These are difficult and confusing times for those of us who see the new Tory Manifesto and an increasingly talked up Tory general election victory as a fearsome continuation of years of neoliberalism, taking the humanity and chances for equality out of this country, oppressing more and more people, both citizens and non-citizens and privileging the most selfish and damaging social and economic values that we had hoped might have died with the Victorians. It is not just difficult to get our heads round more and more years of damage to the fabric of our hard fought for society, but also not to fear for the unquantifiable human damage yet to come if this is what happens. But this is only part of the painful quandary we are facing. The other is to try and get our heads round, how can this be so; how can it be that so many people apparently are happy to vote for the most damaging politics and policies; damaging not only for so many others but probably for themselves as well. Thus the many older people tipped to vote tory who will be voting for an extension of a hopeless, failed and crisis ridden social care system which will most directly hit them. Those who say they love the NHS who will be voting for more cuts, more privatisation, more Trumpean entryism. How can this happen. This must be most extreme political tragedy imaginable. And why is it happening. Is it an adequate explanation that the right wing – politics and media – have successfully convinced very many people that Jeremy Corbyn is either the devil incarnate or more hopeless and incompetent than the succession of useless tory PMs and ministers we are living through. I am not convinced that this argument works. In fact I’m not convinced by any of the assumptions currently at work. Indeed I think the politics we now have are based on making people feel all is shaped already so they must either accept it or add their voices to the only realistic possibility; which can’t be the decent society Corbyn has long fought for, but for the extension of Tory right-wingism by even more foul means. So I have heard vox pop innocents say about the EU, well we lost the vote for remain so I’d better support Brexit. How do you work that out?? No I am not going to accept the right wing determinism, however much the Tories and their chums have damaged our democracy and misled the public since 1979. I won’t believe the pollsters who now repeatedly get it wrong. I won’t accept the bluff of Johnson, his stock in trade. I will support those eternal values of decency, equality and kindness that only Labour has a chance of putting into practice. www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50532000"
