Posted on August 28, 2019 by Katie Mottram Holly Chapman from British Columbia, Canada, now harnesses the wisdom from what was once labelled as symptoms of various ‘illnesses’ as her ‘board of directors’, listening to her visions, voices and sensitivities and embracing her ‘superpowers’ has helped guide her to a life she is now proud of – and so she should be! We are KindaProud of Holly and the hard work she’s put in to thrive through trauma; here’s her story so you can see why… emergingproud.com/2019/08/28/holly-from-canada-intuitively-knew-that-what-shed-been-told-was-impossible-was-possible-shes-now-emergingproud-to-prove-it/

It took Martha recognising the trauma contained in her disempowering experience to find compassion for herself and others Posted on September 2, 2019 by Katie Mottram You may remember the fabulous Martha from her interview will Will Hall on Madness Radio a couple of weeks ago. Now Martha #EmergesProud to share her story for our KindaProud series. Life is complex, messy and so full of paradox – how wise Martha is. Having emerged out of a hugely traumatic ordeal catalysed by taking Ayahuasca, Martha has managed to integrate the trauma so much so that she’s found gratitude within the pain of it all. Martha says; this life is so utterly sacred; so incomprehensibly full of pain, magic and mystery; that when you realise this all at once, it’s okay – maybe even understandable – to go ‘mad’ for a while. emergingproud.com/2019/09/02/it-took-martha-recognising-the-trauma-contained-in-her-disempowering-experience-to-find-compassion-for-herself-and-others/

Have you had the courage to write your own ending?
emergingproud.com/2019/12/01/have-you-had-the-courage-to-write-your-own-ending/We’re in the process of collecting stories for our 5th KindaProud Pocket Book; #Emerging Proud through Psychosis and Schizophrenia. Did you refuse to own your label of ‘crazy’ or ‘broken’ only to use it as the catalyst for your own healing journey? If so, we’d love to hear from you! These books are aimed at changing the narrative around so called ‘illnesses’ to show that being labelled doesn’t have to mean the end… it can be the beginning of stepping more powerfully into who you truly are. All profits from the sale of books will go to distribute FREE books around mental health facilities in order to inject these positive messages where they may be most needed…

What happened on 17th Jan 2020? The outcomes report Posted on January 24, 2020 "The power of trusting in the organic flow of collective wisdom... On Friday 17th Jan we held an open space conference in London, UK to discuss the question; How does the Power Threat Meaning Framework relate to those who perceive their experience in transcendent/ transformative, spiritual or spiritual emergency terms, and how could it be used to support this? The report below outlines the outcomes from these discussions, and highlights the commonalities and actions points raised, in order that they could be fed back to the Power Threat Meaning Framework team to be integrated into this new conceptual framework for mental health, where deemed appropriate." emergingproud.com/2020/01/24/what-happened-on-17th-jan-2020-the-outcomes-report/

Announcing our 6th KindaProud Pocket Book of Hope; Muslims #Emerging Proud through Mental Distress Posted on February 4, 2020by Katie Mottram One of the criticisms of the #EmergingProud campaign has been that we haven’t featured enough ethnic minority groups – well with the support of our new KindaProud Muslim team, that is about to change! We are DELIGHTED to announce our 6th Pocket Book of Hope and Transformation; Muslims #Emerging Proud through Mental Distress The Muslim Pocket Book team are passionate about normalising challenging experiences, particularly for their community, where admitting emotional distress can be doubly difficult due to the stigmas imposed both by society and their culture / religion. emergingproud.com/2020/02/04/announcing-our-6th-kindaproud-pocket-book-of-hope-muslims-emerging-proud-through-mental-distress/

Presentation: The emerging evolution of Western psychiatry On 17th Jan 2020 an open space event took place in London, UK to discuss ideas to expand a new conceptual framework for mental health published by the British Psychological Society in 2018; the Power, Threat, Meaning Framework. The PTMF is a co-produced document with a global reach, which describes an alternative to the current diagnostic model of distress and ‘unusual experiences’ used in Western psychiatry. The event was planned specifically to focus on the question; “How does the Power Threat Meaning Framework relate to those who perceive their experience in transcendent/ transformative, spiritual or spiritual emergency terms, and how could it be used to support this?” This presentation will consider psychiatry, the framework and the outcomes from the enquiry event in relation to Integral Theory. What does an evolved mental health system look like, and as humanity evolves, will we even need psychiatry? How can we support such an archaic system to transition away from orange, and integrate Integral theory into the practical application of the PTMFramework? About Katie Mottram: Katie Mottram is an Author, Publisher, and Founder of the #Emerging Proud campaign aiming to re-frame mental distress as a possible catalyst for positive transformation. She was one of the Founding Directors of the International Spiritual Emergence Network, and is passionate about providing platforms to empower people to have their voices heard, either through in-person connection, virtually, or in written form through her publishing social enterprise; #Emerging Proud Press. integraleuropeanconference.com/project/iec2020-mottramkatie/
