"More than 150 years have passed since the publication of James Clerk Maxwell's "A Dynamical Theory of the Electromagnetic Field" (1865). His treatise revolutionized the fundamental understanding of electric fields, magnetic fields and light. The 20 original equations (elegantly reduced to four today), their boundary conditions at interfaces, and the bulk electronic response functions (dielectric permitivity and magnetic permeability) are at the root of the ability to manipulate electromagnetic fields and light. Life without Maxwell's equations would lack most current science, communications and technology." phys.org/news/2019-12-maxwell-electromagnetism-smaller-scales.html

A recent breakthrough in high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy (HIFU) technology has proven its use as an effective cancer treatment. A multi-institutional research team from China developed a semi-enclosed, spherical cavity transducer that can produce a focused, standing-wave field with a subwavelength-scale focal region and extremely high ultrasound intensity. The spherical cavity transducer appeared to generate tighter focal regions and greater pressure amplitude compared with the traditional concave spherical transducer. Researchers said the level of intensity generated by the new transducer design may lead to significant improvements in HIFU therapy. The findings were published in the Journal of Applied Physics. www.naturalnews.com/2017-03-29-scientists-have-discovered-a-way-to-destroy-cancer-tumors-using-nothing-but-sound-waves.html

A Unified Theory of Randomness Researchers have uncovered deep connections among different types of random objects, illuminating hidden geometric structures. From the archives: “You take the most natural objects — trees, paths, surfaces — and you show they’re all related to each other and once you have these relationships, you can prove all sorts of new theorems you couldn’t prove before.” — Scott Sheffield, professor of mathematics at MIT www.quantamagazine.org/a-unified-theory-of-randomness-20160802/

COMPLETELY TOP–DOWN HIERARCHICAL STRUCTURE IN QUANTUM MECHANICS Proceedings of the National Academy Science of the U.S.A. 115(46) www.fetzer-franklin-fund.org/publications-overview/completely-top-down-hierarchical-structure-quantum-mechanics/"Can a large system be fully characterized using its subsystems via inductive reasoning? Is it possible to completely reduce the behavior of a complex system to the behavior of its simplest “atoms”? In this paper we answer these questions in the negative for a specific class of systems and measurements. After a general introduction of the topic, we present the main idea with a simple two-particle example, where strong correlations arise between two apparently empty boxes. This leads to surprising effects within atomic and electromagnetic systems."

The electric force, gravity and magnetism are close to impossible to explain without an aether. However, as soon as we accept the idea of an aether, these forces can be explained as high and low pressure regions in space: www.universeofparticles.com/aether-physics-the-electric-force/"To understand the electric force, gravity and magnetism, we must return to our definition of the aether, because it is the aether that makes action at a distance possible. We have to keep in mind that the aether is so dense that every particle in it is in physical contact with every neighbouring particle. This means that if we can manipulate the aether between two surfaces in such a way that some of its particles leave this field, we get tension, forcing the surfaces together. Conversely, if we can manipulate the aether in such a way that particles get sucked into this field, there will be pressure, forcing the surfaces apart. Unless we re-establish equilibrium, there will be tension or pressure, depending on the situation. Let us further consider what we have said about textures of particles, and the fact that neutrinos are of mixed texture. Neutrinos receive footprints of whatever surface they were last in contact with. This is information that neutrinos take with them as they return back into the field."
