No longer hidden, but still hard to decipher for the vast majority. Maybe a keep-it-simple guide could help

From ‘Natural Magic’ to ‘Scientific Naturalism’: Basic Readings Has science vanquished magic? While many prominent popularizers of science think so, professional history of science scholarship suggests otherwise. Here is a short list of basic and introductory readings for those who want to study the complex historical relationship of the sciences with magic for themselves. For the sake of brevity and with a broad audience in mind, the below list of titles is limited to books, omitting journal articles and chapters in edited volumes (and omitting valuable titles in languages other than English). Unfortunately for readers without an academic affiliation, scholarly articles are usually hidden behind paywalls – however, authors occasionally upload PDF files of their works on Academia.edu or ResearchGate, or on their institutional websites, so a web search is always worth a shot. www.forbiddenhistories.com/basic-readings/

Alchemical Manuscripts The Alchemical Manuscript Series is a collection of rare, centuries-old alchemical material made available to English readers. It includes translations of important works by the eminent Alchemists Basil Valentine, Anton Kirchweger, Isaac Hollandus, George Ripley, S. Bacstrom, M.D., Alexander Van Suchten, Baron Urbigerus, Johann Becker, and Artephius. www.rosicrucian.org/alchemical-manuscript-series

Is it Time for Occultism to Come Out of Hiding and Go Open Source?BY WOODY EVANS "Occultism has long been hidden behind layers of obfuscation, smoke and mirrors. But it’s time for the occult to come out of hiding. Permanently. Browsing the Z call numbers, I found a great book on the history of printing (The Printing Press as an Agent of Change, Eisenstein). I ran through the index and found a bit on alchemy. It turns out to be Francis Bacon complaining about occultism and alchemy—not on the grounds of content, or about alchemical methodology—but on the grounds that the methods of transferring knowledge to the public about the processes of alchemy are opaque, closed, and not subject to falsification or even verification. What Bacon’s complaint snaps into focus is that, 400 years later, there is still no Open / Libre system for sharing “occult” work in the way that the sciences do. Almost all of the esoteric and occult books you’re likely to read have been “closed” communications in the sense that they are obscure, self-referential, subjective, coded, guarded, etc." ultraculture.org/blog/2013/04/15/occultism-open-source/

"The world is not prepared yet to understand the philosophy of "Occult Sciences" - let them assure themselves first of all that there are beings in an invisible world, whether "Spirits" of the dead or Elementals; and that there are hidden powers in man, which are capable of making a God of him on earth".
H. P. Blavatsky

On Power and Magictheomagica.com/of-power-and-magicThroughout the ages Power has always been at the centre of magical practice. Wether we look at the herbs and potions of the witch, the fires in the ancient temples of Greece and Egypt or the intricate circles of the Medieval mage - the desire to consciously affect changes on the inner or outer realm always established the fundament of the Arte. Yet, while the desire to acquire power through magic has been a constant for millennia, some of the keys to get there were lost. Or maybe just hidden? Either way, unfortunately we won't find these keys in the Greek Magical Papyri, nor in the Grimoires. These keys sleep in the present time, in the here and now. We extract them from our own practice. This essay is based on simple model of how to understand power in magic. Following its introduction, we will examine it's two pillars of Experience and Meaning, reflect on how it can be abused by magical teachers and conclude with a few thoughts on how to best leverage it in our own magical practice. "You don't have to understand or "believe in" the body of knowledge and ancient science known as the occult, for the occult to have a profound impact on your mind and behaviors. Those who do understand it and wish to use it as a mechanism for control are doing a number on those who refuse to learn or understand it.
Occult simply means hidden from sight. Hidden knowledge of the human psyche and it's subtle influences. Hidden knowledge of natural law. Hidden knowledge of the seen and unseen forces of nature.
The information contained therein is neither dark nor light by Nature. How the wielder chooses to use the information is what determines whether it is dark occultism or light occultism. Dark occultists work to keep this information hidden and use it for power over others and subversion of free will. Light occultists wish to bring that knowledge to the light of day and share it with all, because it belongs to all. Light occultists are more accurately termed de-occultists, since they wish to reveal for the good of all, and not occult the knowledge.
The human condition on this planet WILL NOT BE IMPROVED until the occult is no longer the occult. The only way to protect oneself against negative occult influence is to understand them. Look throughout history and you will find the vast majority of who we considered to be geniuses, amazing philosophers and wildly influential people whether negative or positive, have all been involved and dedicated to learning and understanding the occult. It's time we quit lying to ourselves and begin learning something that really matters."

There are two Paths to the Innermost: the Way of the Mystic, which is the way of devotion and meditation, a solitary and subjective path; and the way of the occultist, which is the way of the intellect, of concentration, and of trained will; upon this path the co-operation of fellow workers is required, firstly for the exchange of knowledge, and secondly because ritual magic plays an important part in this work, and for this the assistance of several is needed in most of the greater operations. The mystic derives his knowledge through the direct communion of his higher self with the Higher Powers; to him the wisdom of the occultist is foolishness, for his mind does not work in that way; but, on the other hand, to a more intellectual and extrovert type, the method of the mystic is impossible until long training has enabled him to transcend the planes of form. We must therefore recognize these two distinct types among those who seek the Way of Initiation, and remember that there is a path for ach.
