"It’s a broken system”, he concluded." It's worse than that - talk about bullying and abusive of the ill. How they could get away with not accepting the GP's sick notes beggars belief.

BBC host slammed for shutting down uncomfortable topic for the Tories www.thecanary.co/trending/2019/09/06/bbc-host-slammed-for-shutting-down-uncomfortable-topic-for-the-tories/"It’s a crisis. And we need to talk about it. As Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour has consistently stressed, Brexit isn’t the only issue British people face today. The country also needs mass social investment to recover from a decade of destructive ideological austerity led by the Tories and enabled by centrists like the Liberal Democrats. Just one policy in this period – cutting public health spending – has led to over 130,000 premature deaths in the UK. And a 2018 UN investigation concluded that “14 million people, a fifth of the population, live in poverty”. Report author Philip Alston said: The costs of austerity have fallen disproportionately upon the poor, women, racial and ethnic minorities, children, single parents, and people with disabilities. And he continued: Britain is certainly capable of eliminating most, if not all, of its poverty if it wanted to. But it’s clear that there’s a political choice: that it doesn’t want to. It would prefer to offer tax cuts to the wealthy than to remove hundreds of thousands, maybe a million or more, out of serious poverty. The BBC previously asked if foodbank users were “embarrassed” about seeking help. But it’s the Conservative-led government that should be embarrassed about expanding poverty across Britain. And the BBC should be embarrassed about failing to hold it to account for its appalling record in power."

Therese Coffey, new DWP secretary of state, voted 52 times to reduce welfare benefits spendingAs well as voting to cut welfare benefits spending on 52 separate occasions between 2012 and 2016, Coffey: Consistently voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability Consistently voted for the bedroom tax Consistently voted against raising welfare benefits at least in line with prices Consistently voted for mass surveillance of people’s communications and activities Generally voted against laws to promote equality and human rights Coffey was one of 72 MPs who are also landlords who voted against an amendment that would have obliged all landlords to ensure that their properties were “fit for human habitation. The only consolation claimants can draw from the current situation is that Coffey is unlikely to be in post long enough to have much influence over anything. www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/4082-therese-coffey-new-dwp-secretary-of-state-voted-52-times-to-reduce-welfare-benefits-spendingwww.theyworkforyou.com/mp/24771/therese_coffey/suffolk_coastal

Shocking new data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed the horrific scale of misery in Tory Britain. Deaths in a range of categories that can be described as ‘despair-related’ have rocketed – and the sum of the tragedy has reached a scale comparable with the impact of the Second World War. The situation is not only horrific but growing at an appalling rate since the Tories entered Downing Street in 2010: Suicides up by 16%deaths linked to homelessness up by 24% (vs 2013)drug-related deaths up by 66%winter-related deaths up by 64%deaths associated with fuel-poverty up by 64%In plain numbers the brutal reality is even more terrifying than the percentages suggest. Just last year: 597 homeless people died – a rate of three every two days6,507 people died by suicideon person died every two hours of drug-related causes – 4,359 people across the yearwinter-related deaths were an astonishing 51,100 – an increase of 20,000 since 20105,100 people died related to fuel poverty – Even allowing for potential double-counting in deaths linked to winter and fuel-poverty, sixty thousand more people died in circumstances linked to poverty and hopelessness – a number roughly equivalent to annual deaths among UK people in World War II. skwawkbox.org/2019/09/20/despair-in-tory-britain-taking-as-many-lives-as-wwii/

UNIVERSAL CREDIT: SOCIAL MURDER BY DESIGN October 13, 2018ducksoap "Universal Credit has been designed to cause destitution, homelessness, illness and death. Massive cuts to necessary benefit payments, endless delays to payments and automated spurious suspensions and denial of payments are inserted features of Universal Credit. Universal Credit was never conceived as an attempt to simplify benefit payments. That claim was always just a lie. It was never intended to save tax payers money. Any reductions in total payments to all claimants have been offset by money handed to privateer vultures who administer Universal Credit and also by the millions spent by the government on legal cases fighting challenges to the implementation of it. Universal credit is merely the name attached to a policy of destroying the vital welfare safety net so that people who are in low-paid work become absolutely terrified of losing their jobs." ducksoap.wordpress.com/2018/10/13/universal-credit-social-murder-by-design/

Many thousands of these stories - In general society doesn't care. "Brexit brexit brexit that is the dominant thing on the populations mind and rightly so, anyone with a modicum of sense would admit that but this country is beyond fucked. Im going to give you a shining example of how fucked up it all is. We are the among the richest nations on earth, the birthplace of modern democracy a decent and fair society with a welfare system that is set up to look after those most in need, except It isn't. Now take me from outward appearances i look like your average Joe, dig a little deeper and that goes out of the window. I have complex mental health issues coupled with neurological problems. I have just recently became another of this countries proud statistics in becoming homeless and by homeless i mean under the stars homeless. Now according to the law i am what is classed as vulnerable both due to physical injuries and mental health problems that consist of clinical depression, panic disorder, general anxiety disorder and the most misunderstood and vilified of conditions borderline personality disorder with the words a danger to himself and the general public. I am that person that the welfare state was set up to help in times of need guess what it doesn't. The well groomed housing officer complete with a nice smile explained to me that although by legal definition backed up by the medical profession that I'm not vulnerable enough to receive state assistance. The hostel system is out of my reach because of my mental health means they can't put in adequate safeguards to protect me and those around me. Which leaves me with two stark choices rough it and save every penny of my esa which equates to £350 per month until i get a deposit and rent which in the current climate means I'm looking at a minimum 6 months which coincides with the coldest part of the year, or getting sectioned which opens up a whole new can of worms.. Apart from a print out of drop in centers and this cracking link londonhomeless.org/survival/It's a case of good luck and don't bother coming back here. THIS IS WHAT is happening every minute of everyday my story unfortunately isn't unique it isn't abnormal it's Great Britain in the 21st century, this is what austerity looks like close up."

John J MacDonald -
"Here's the thing: Everybody is rightly condemning "death threats" against MP's and ministers or simply against people on the other side of the debate to themselves. Fine! Great! As it bloody well should be! But who's condemning the death threats the STATE have made and continue to make against the hundreds of thousands of the most vulnerable among us? Police investigations amount to ziltch. In fact - THERE ARE NO INVESTIGATIONS. Having your PIP removed, your benefits stopped, being made homeless IS A FUCKING DEATH THREAT! That banner (allegedly from Momentum) in Manchester today is atrocious and it should be investigated. But not before the obscene number of austerity related deaths they are trying to highlight in that banner. These aresholes making these threats, whether it's to Diane Abbott or Amber Rudd, Jeremy Corbyn or IDS, Jess Phillips or Margaret Hodge - all need to be dealt with. But make no mistake... when the DWP sanction somebody (in almost every case unjustly), that's a bloody out and out death threat. When a landlord has people evicted because they've been switched to Universal Credits, that's a death threat. When you're lying in hospital waiting for doctors that do not exist, on beds that do not exist, for treatment that won't be funded, that's a death threat. When you close down all local facilities, all support, all policing for inner city kids in some of the most troubled areas of town, that's a death threat. Investigate those, because these are all threats that have been successfully carried out! So far, to my knowledge, one MP has been murdered. Look at the figure the BMJ put on Tory Austerity related deaths as long ago now as November 2017 - 120,000. And there have been more every day since. Freezing to death on the streets, committing suicide with less than a fiver to their names, no meds, no treatment for chronic illness or disabilities... These are people dying of despair. Afraid, alone, ashamed, forgotten, abandoned. Will they INVESTIGATE THOSE DEATHS AND THE THREATS MADE BEFORE THOSE PEOPLE DIED? Nope - chances are, they'll sooner investigate me and this post and any one who likes or shares it before they ever get round to investigating the real threats to life! #FuckTheTories "
