"The general organization of today's society is based on human competition on many levels: nation-states compete with each other for physical / economic resources; corporate market entities compete for profit / market share, and ordinary workers compete for occupations that provide wages and therefore personal survival.
Beneath the surface of this competitive social ethic is a basic psychological disregard for the well-being of others and the habitat. The very nature of competition presupposes taking advantage of others for personal gain, and therefore the division and exploitation (of human beings and the environment) are fundamental attributes of the current social order. Virtually all of the so-called "corruptions", defined as "crime" in the contemporary world, are based on the same mentality that guides the "progress" of the world through competitive value.
It is no wonder, in fact, given this picture and its growing myopia that various other superficial and noxious social divisions are still perpetrated - such as race, religion, creed, class, or xenophobic prejudice. This old baggage of division brought from the stages of fear of our cultural evolution simply has no meaning within physical reality. And now it is only to hinder progress, security and sustainability.
Today, (...) the possible methods of producing abundance and efficiency - which could remove most human deprivation, greatly increase the average standard of living, improve public health and improve ecological sustainability - are social traditions that are now in force, including the concept of nation-state. The fact is that there is technically only one race - the Human Race [79]; there is only a single basic habitat - the Earth; and there is only one functional way of operational-scientific thinking. "
